Hi - I'm Dana Thompson

I have spent my entire adult life in and around homes, housing, and how people live in their spaces. I started in luxury apartment leasing in my early twenties and moved through relocation, corporate housing, and tech support for real estate agents before ever pointing a camera at a listing. Those years taught me how buyers read a room, how agents think about marketing, and how much presentation and follow-through can change the story of a property.
My background in real estate paired naturally with a long‑standing passion for photography, and in 2014 I brought the two together to launch my business. From the start, my focus was on creating images that truly represent a property’s character and connect with buyers. As the industry evolved, I expanded my work to include aerials, video, and modern storytelling techniques — giving my clients the visuals they need to market confidently and stand out in any market.
My approach

Today, I run SouthBayPics as a boutique-on-purpose studio. I work with a curated circle of South Bay agents who value strategy, consistency, and a calm, professional presence on shoot day. My goal is simple: create visuals that honor the home, support the story you need to tell, and quietly raise the bar on how your listings show up in the market.
I shoot and edit most of my own video deliverables. I do feel strongly the belief of dividing and conquering, so I will occasionally bring in another video professional to produce our larger scale listings complete with separate shoot days and delivering far beyon
